Location

Mill Falls is located beside the old Collooney bridge and just across from the landmark pub, Quigley’s, which is a listed building dating to the 18th century and is still today run by the Quigley Family.  Collooney is a growing market town, once famous for its Fair Green fair when farmers and buyers gathered from all over the country.

Just across the water is the old Hollow Mills which date back to 1797 but which today houses a hydro-electric station which harnesses energy of the Owenmore River. Markree Castle, once the family seat of the Cooper family, is now a beautiful hotel of character and charm .

Sitting just off the primary Sligo, Dublin/Galway roads, the N4/N17 Collooney has excellent transport connections. Sligo town is just 5 minutes via dual carriageway while the town is served by a regular bus service to Sligo.

Across the river from Mill Falls is Collooney rail station which has a thrice daily service to Dublin. A commuter service between Carrick-on-Shannon and Sligo, serving Collooney is planned while lobbying is continuing to have the Western Rail Corridor re-opened which would re-establish a Sligo to Limerick route


Local Area

Mill falls, set on a beautifully mature site along the banks of the Owenmore River, is distinguished from most new developments by its history and character.
Once home to the thriving corn mills of Alexander Sim, the remnants of the 1830’s mill race are still preserved, which adds to the special ambience of the location and lends credence to its title today, Mill Falls. A fish pass, which aids Atlantic salmon on their run from their spawning beds up river, to and from the ocean at Ballisodare Bay, is also preserved.
Collooney has churches of the main Christian faiths and a National school while the area secondary school is just down the road at Ballisodare. The town has a number of fine pubs and all the amenities of a small town. A new retail park and a proposed 140 bedroom hotel is developing at Carraroe on the Collooney side of Sligo bringing easy access to shopping and other facilities.


Fishing Rights:
The property has the benefit of Fishing rights on the Owenmore River along the site curtilage. The management company of which all purchasers will be a member will manage the allocation of fishing time to residents.
