Public Transport
Sitting just off the Sligo, Dubling/Galway roads, the N4/N17, Collooney has excellent transport connections.  Sligo town is just 5 minutes drive via dual carriageway while the town is served by a regular bus service to Sligo including the new Night Rider bus service at weekends.  The new Sligo inner relief road allows easy access to and from Sligo town centre.

Trains operate from Collooney to Sligo and Dublin rail stations eight times daily.  A commuter service between Carrick-on-Shannon and Sligo, serving Collooney is planned along with the re-opening of the Western Rail Corridor to Limerick.

Knock International Airport is only a 35 minute drive away with Sligo airport at Strandhill just down the road offering twice daily flights to and from Dublin and flghts to Manchester four times a week.


Local Amenities

Churches of the main Christian faiths are located in the village.  The village has three primary schools with a co-education secondary school located in Ballisodare, 3 miles from Collooney.



The town has a number of fine pubs, shops, bank, pharmacy and all the amenities of a small town. There is a vibrant business park in Collooney, which includes furniture, electrical, hardware and motor sales showrooms.  Kevinsfort Limited are developing a large commercial and retail warehousing park on the outskirts of the village.  The retail park at Carraroe is a 5 minute drive from Collooney bringing easy access to shopping and other facilities.

When retail therapy is demanded, Sligo town boasts a range of leading fashion names with the newly opened Quayside shopping centre. Sligo also has a charming array of local, niché and traditional shops.


Rural Renewal Tax Incentives

As the Rural Renewal Tax Relief Scheme has almost come to a close only the first 10 houses at Ivy Grove will qualify for the Scheme.  This will allow owner/occupiers to claim 40-45% of construction costs against their personal income for 10 years.

Investors purchasing at Ivy Grove can write off approximately 85% of the construction costs against income tax liability arising from Irish rental income.
